Some more info on my truck

I did some more research on the info and portfolio the seller gave me on my truck. I guess it was a GM / Chevy factory reps truck and that might explain why it is loaded with almost all the options available. I have a key fob that supposedly was from the factory and if lost would be automatically mailed back to corporate HQ.

This truck came from Michigan and was also owed by some eccentric collector that stored it inside and only drove it a couple times a year. It has 55k miles and was also in the movie Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell. I am not a celebrity fan boy but that is cool I guess. I wonder if GM / Chevy could tell me anything based off the VIN.

Only if the truck was produced in the Oshawa Canada plant (VIN assembly plant code 1). The US records have been lost for years.

A key fob? In 1972?
What could a key fob do in '72?

Ok I called it a FOB, like an old watch FOB but it would be called a key chain today

More like a leather packet/fob.

All of the GM company owned vehicles had a little packet that contained the registration. A small plastic window on the fob could be written on with a grease pencil to note where the vehicle was parked on GM property (whether at the Tech Center or the Proving Ground).

I've probably got one here somewhere that I could take a picture of.

Can you post the relevant docs that make him think it was a factory rep truck?

I was a GM employee for 40 years in Full Size truck engineering and vehicle assembly, and a company owned vehicle driver for 20 of those years.

I don't recognize that. Perhaps some local dealer offering.

Ours were more like the attached (only no zipper), in black or brown leather.

As I understand you could inscribe your address on them and it would be returned if someone dropped it in a mailbox. I think they gave it as a service to all the GM reps and dealers.

They were called "fobs when they hung off pocket watch chains before there were cars.
Only recently did they give them batteries and start teaching them tricks
