Electric fans
2004 Silverado
I'm going to buy swap my clutch fan for Electric fans. I'm going to get the harness as well. Is it just hook up and go or does something need to be turned on in the computer |
Re: Electric fans
Trading simplicity and reliability for complexity and unreliability is a not great way to go.

Re: Electric fans
If you add fans by adding wire to pcm, you need to turn it on with hp tuners.
If you use a thermostatic switch like a painless wiring kit, no pcm editing required. Best to use the pcm pinout because you can also change the temp in which the fan low and high turn on. You can source the factory Efan relay box at your junkyard. Get the whole harness and relay box to make it plug and play, with hp tuners of course. Also I’d suggest going with the 7 & 9 blade fan assembly over the 5 & 7 blade the NBS trucks came with stock. Search rockauto under a 2011 Silverado 1500. Will fit the the NBS radiators perfectly. |

Re: Electric fans
I got the wiring harness from bp harness to do my 04 tahoe. I had to send them my hp tuners file for them to modify to make it work correctly. I was getting better mileage on my first road trip, but since then its been about the same as it was before the mod.
