1960 rear bumper question.. wrong one?
3 Attachment(s)
I just purchased This rear bumper from summit and it just got delivered yesterday. I'm not sure it's right for my 1960 stepside.
I think what is throwing me off on the rear fender you can see what looks like a body line or rust line from an old bumper that wrapped around almost to the tire you can see two holes in the fender behind the rear tire that I assumed were bolts going through to the bumper. Am I wrong about this and the bumper I received is actually the correct one? What would be the line on the rear fenders with the two holes on both sides? Thank you |

Looks like the old bumper was an aftermarket step-bumper that wrapped around to the fenders. Your new bumper looks like the one on my 62. Do you have the brackets to fit the new stock bumper?

Thanks for the reply...
The invoice from summit/holly says 55 through 66 Chevy rear bumper stepside. I also bought the brackets at the same time. Here was a picture of them. I won't lie I like the idea of the bumper going all the way around to where those holes are at. But if this bumper is the correct one then I'm just as happy. Just want to make sure they didn't accidentally sent me a fleet side one. Thanks |

They put those wraparounds on fleetsides too. Bolting them to the body really amplifies the damage should the bumper ever "bump" something.

Well that is a good point... Not like there is a shock absorber on the brackets either..
This bumper should work good then.. I'll get it painted soon |
