1965 what engine combo w/powerglide?

Found a 1965 C10 2WD short/wide bed. Rough but cheap. I can’t currently view it in person, but is there a way to potentially ID the engine it came with from exterior pictures? I know it has a powerglide, but that’s about it. Was the PG available behind all three engine options?

That could be tricky because the passing of years and interchangeably of the SBC could result in quite a few mix n match combos. The first things I look for are clues that could give me an approximate idea of its age..... are there bolt bosses in the heads? Long water pump or short pump. Which side is the alternator, and also does it have a street breather? How small are the runners on the intake? (283's had smaller runners and small 2 bbl carbs, 400's had regular intake runners and a big 2bbl carb)...Those kind of thing are at least clues, but without casting numbers it's still just guessing.

But if it's an unmolested stock motor...my money is on 283

post the photos here and we'll see what we can tell. in 1965, you could not get a 327 in a 1/2 ton truck, so it would be a 283 if its a V8 and not been pulled and replaced. Most have been replaced by 350's or 283's from cars. You can tell the seller to send you the suffix code off the pad sticking out from under the edge of the front of the right side head and we can decode that

Picked it up last night, appears to have a 230/6.
