Bought a pile from a cow pasture

Four wheeled pile, that is. This truck has been off the road since 1998 and was about 10 miles from me. I thought it had some interesting options for a plain Custom 10, 307, 3 speed truck. It has factory cab lights, auxiliary springs, upper and lower molding, P01 wheel covers. It needs a lot of love but it's all there. Well, except for what has rusted away:lol:

I don't think I have seen a truck with both body and belt molding. Interesting options indeed.

And it’s not all beaten up ? Congratulations ! 307’s are not as bad as people make them out to be.

Man that dashpad was some extreme patina!!!

That would be a "most preferred" pile to me.
Any 71 or 72 will have factory disc brakes. Manual non assisted disc brakes would be OK too.

They don't make trucks like these anymore, I'd be happy to drive it to town knowing that there ain't about a dozen computers that can fail and I wouldn't know how to fix anyway. $$$

Interesting allusion to natural bovine fertilizer. Reminds me of a recurring nightmare of mine:
I buy a truck, [Sight unseen -- Hey it's a dream]
Usually a longbed C/20.! [! =Scary notes],
Then it's Ochre!!
Finally I discover the bed is filled with steaming horse sh!t!!!
And I wake up in a sweat,
but thankful it was only a nightmare and I'm not stuck with a truckload of road apples.

Yeah, my econobox is approaching its 10 year warranty expiration, and I'm low-key looking for a replacement. The paint on my wife's econobox was peeling, so we had it repainted. $5k for a $5k vehicle, but it's working OK, except for the paint. My truck may not get the best mileage, but I can fix what needs fixing.

Nice find Dave :chevy:

I wonder if that farmer went out there
Every spring
Since 98?and sprayed a perfect square of round up
Around it so every interested buyer
Could have a clear view of it for the last 1/4 of a century

Being an Oshawa build and therefore built in Canada you could contact the GM Heritage Centre and get a printout of when the truck was built with for options and where it originally sold from etc.

And that to me is everything.
Gasoline nationwide is probably around $2.50 a gallon, maybe a bit less, and the rest is taxes depending on where you reside.
New trucks would cost a fortune to someone like me on my fixed retirement income and although they may be a bit more fuel efficient and even pollute a bit less, that advantage comes at a ridiculous price to my wallet.
Besides I don't drive as much as I used to, maybe a 25 mile round trip once a week if that.
Sooner or later the new stuff is going to require maintenance and repairs and there are a lot of more sophisticated systems that can break down in the new stuff that I would have no clue how to diagnose, much less fix. $$$
Used to be that you put fuel in the tank and turn a key and you drove your truck to town, maybe change the oil regularly and give it a tune-up now and then and you were on your way.
I state all this because it's 4AM here, I can't sleep and I wanted to quote Star Trek Scotty in regards to new vehicles:

"The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain." :haha:

...night! night! :D

Yeah it's funny. I've driven by this farm many, many times in my lifetime, but it was parked just enough over a rise in the land that me, nor anyone else, could see it from the road. The owner passed last year and it went on the market.

I have submitted an electronic request so we'll see how it goes. Thanks.

Isn't everything you can know shown right there on the glovebox door? I mean, other than the dealer info.

Now that is really interesting to me. At first I assumed that it was an import, but the fact that it was an Oshawa truck without the "Mandatory Canadian Equipment" option means it was produced for sale in the US. I don't recall seeing one on the site.

I look forward to getting a look at the build sheet from the Canadian Heritage centre.

Re: Bought a pile from a cow pasture

I bought one from a cow pasture once. I didn't realize when I bought it that it had been backed up to the fence with pig farm on the other side. It took me about a year to get the smell out of it. By comparison, cowpies smell sweet.
