87 Chevy v10 Flint assembly sticker and smog pump
Hi everyone,
It’s been a long year, but I’m on the home stretch on the restoration of an 87 v10. Paint and body is almost done and I just have a few mechanical things to sort out. First question, I need a smog pump and associated piping. Does anyone know what years interchange? My 87 uses v belts and 88 and up use’s serpentine belts. So I know I can’t use an 88 pump. But what about everything else from 88 and up? Can I use an 86 and older smog pump setup? Also, would my truck have had a Chevrolet/ UAW assembly sticker inside the door jamb in 87? I recently saw a YouTube of a 1990 v series suburban that had a Flint UAW assembly sticker and that got me thinking. Thank you! |

My '87 pickup, built in Flint, does not have a UAW sticker.

My 1988 Suburban I bought new had V-belt system as does the current 1988 Blazer I have. On the Square Bodies I have not seen a serpentine system unless it was a 1989-1991. If Michigan's weather would ever clear up I plan on pulling my AIR system off when I remove the engine on my 1988 Blazer to prep for an LS conversion.
