Window seals and felts
 

I'm dropping my Suburban off to the painter this week and I plan to rebuild the vent windows and sliders while he's got it.

I see there are several different kits for the wing windows from $45 to $165

I only see a few options for the sliders from $110 to $530

It looks like Steele Rubber is the most expensive and if I order all of the seals and felt I need from them I could easily spend $1500.

My question is, is it worth it?
I used some Precision brand weather stripping on my 51 and it was pretty good except the door seals. they didn't fit.

I used all Precision seals on my '61. That's what my Canadian supplier sold.

I haven't tried Steele, but I have found more positive feedback about Steele than Precision.

I'm not super impressed by the door and side glass seals. If they need replacement, I will try Steele.

I had the "window won't go up all the way with new felt" problem (do a search on this forum) and was told that Precision and Steele were exactly the same for my 62 C10, so might as well buy the cheaper ones. This was in 2019 so things may have changed.

I started out using the honda door seals but I didn't like them. I bought the Precision door seals and I have found that they fit really well. I would use them again.

Were the door seals the press on type? That would be so much easier.


I added up all of the seals I need form Steele and it was $1800. It's $530 just for the 2 slider window seals.

So I'll probably order the windshield, rear window and door stuff from other vendors and get the Suburban specific stuff from Steele. That should get the cost down to around $1000.

I wish I would have just built another truck. Everything costs so much more for this Suburban.
