UV Blocking Film/Tint That's Clear?

Has anyone installed a clear to nearly-clear UV film on their windows? Maybe >80% transmission?

I have clear glass now and am getting cooked but I don't want black or grey windows. I really like the stock look and just need some UV protection.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I apologize for posting a dirty reddit link here, but it seems to provide some interesting info

3M makes one that allows 90% transmission but blocks UV. "Crystalline" maybe?
Probably just check with your local pro installers

I do all my vehicles with a product from LLumar on all windows including the windshield. Advertised to block 98% percent of UV rays and reduce heat build up by 60%. Makes a huge difference in heat build up, both while sitting and moving, resulting in way better AC performance, and helps prevent UV fading and damage.

Hi Lee H, please tell us about LLumar, what is the product, do you have a link for your source you can share, and do you have it done by a dealer/pro or do it yourself? If yourself, how do you obtain the film?

Professional install. Not the cheapest product but there is a huge payback upon selling with no signs of fading or cracking in the interior. Just one of LLumar's many products.

Can you give a rough quote on cost? Per window or vehicle?

With the IRX product it looks like we made a jump to talking about 50% tinted windows. Including tinting the windshield, I don't think that's an option for me.

That’s what I originally thought also, after a few days you can’t tell it’s tinted, looking inside or out. Good luck, Lee.

I went back and forth between clear film and slight tint and settled on 40% Ceramic all the way around, even the windshield. I bought a roll of film online and a few tools and went at it. It's been excellent and doesn't look tinted out. Id call it tasetfully tinted. Can see straight through the truck with a slight gray tint to the glass.

It did take me 5 tries to get the windshield done to a standard I can live with, however.

I'd be very happy with that. I do not prefer dark tinted windows.

There are online visualizers for 3M and Llumar, if that helps:
