spark plug for unilite distributor?
Installed a Unilte in my 350. Need a plug recommendation. Was going to use R44TS plugs then found this post on a Chevelle forum. (Spark plug gaps, .035 MAXIMUM, NO LARGER. preferably, .032. NO resistor spark plugs, and a good set of magnetic suppression, spiral core plug wires.) All the AC plugs I found start with the R designation. Supposedly means resistor plug?

If using Points, the common wisdom is to set the gap at .035. If you have an HEI distributor, or Pertronix, or other electronic device in your distributor, then the recommended gap is .045. Thanks for giving us the data that you have a 350. We might also want to know what year, drivetrain notes and other stuff. In my opinion, a Truck ain't a Chevelle. If you have a radio or some music -playing device, you probably want Resistance plugs. |
Re: spark plug for unilite distributor?
R45TS plugs work well in most truck applications with lower CR. If working it really hard for extended periods, OR you have a 9.5:1 CR or above, go to a R44TS or even a R43TS (lower the number, the colder the plug with AC).
