1969 K5 Blazer 2wd

I would like to see how many of you, have or had a 1969 2wd Blazer? Yes I know all the research points to no 2wd were made in 1969 and only 4wd were.

Trying to put a value on the historical documents I have for one....

Thank you

Re: 1969 K5 Blazer 2wd

I've always been told that there were no 69 2wd blazers, but maybe there was a prototype no one knows about. I'd be very wary of anyone claiming they have one.

My red 2wd blazer is titled as a 69 but it's cab was swapped onto a 2wd Blazer frame in the early 80's.

If you have documents would you mind sharing them? You can pm me pics of them if you want.

I know, all the research I've done online has told me the same thing. I was wondering if someone knew what month they started building the 69 2wd.

I'll see if I can attach my title /vin...

All Blazer vins start with a C

Edit: sorry, 1972 only.

Nope.

Some start with a K, some start with a B (believe it or not).

That's interesting... Does the vin plate match the title (i've seen some that do not, in fact I had a go around with DMV trying to get one of my title's to match my vin plate).

Yes vin and title match

All previously known 1969 Blazer VINS begin with "B" and built in ST. Louis.

For a GMC Jimmy, yes. Not Chevy.

I'm pretty sure the vin he posted is from a Chevy blazer. I'll have to go look at mine.

What if it was a 2wd built in Sept.-Dec. in 69, would it be title as a 69 or 70? That's what I'm guessing happened here, does it still have the blue sticker on the door? Doesn't it normal have the month and year built?

Absolutely, as there were zero 1969 Jimmys produced for normal consumption.

Model year switchover was typically August. This "1969 Blazer" has a 1970 style VIN, since the 1970's Blazer VIN dropped the initial "B", and changed the body style code from "4" to "8".

I would be willing to bet the last six digits indicate extremely early production, since the first few sequence numbers would have been "100001"

The reason this Blazer's VIN is assigned as a 1969 model year is certainly a mystery. Would like to see if it has 1970 only parts such as TCS relay on firewall, the blue drivers door decal, and the inner plastic grille style, etc.

My 1969 Blazer starts with a B, 1970 2wd gmc starts with a C.

I've seen a few titles that were not right, I'd rather see the vin plate.

I'm particularly suspect of Louisiana titled cars as some of the title service companies seem to work out of Louisiana. Hopefully you haven't been tricked into paying too much for something that was never made. Not saying you have been but people will do anything to make a buck.

Yes it does

That's the difference between Chevy and Jimmy vins

Another gentleman sent me a pic of his title. He has a 69 as well.

So that's 2 so far

That's almost any state now a days. I'm thinking with the one I have it was an early production one with the vin number that was issued in 69 not 70.

I don't.

Re: 1969 K5 Blazer 2wd

I got ahold of the previous owner today. Scott B. He bought the Blazer from a junk yard years ago. It was registered to Larry King he said. He also got it authenticated through GM with the vin. They're 4 know 1969 2wd Blazers known to date. I'm in the process to see if I can get a historical document copy from LA state DMV. I will also be contacting GM to see if I can get any extra information from them.

The blazer is long gone. It was a pile of poop stated Scott. No body, No spid. No frame No door sticker to be had. Sorry to everyone that wanted more pictures. I'm doing more research. It's now not for sale as this is a Univorn piece to have unless the offer was ridiculously high.

Thinking about getting a new tub and Chassis and going from there.

I know a guy who has a stack of titles, all of them rare and desirable muscle cars. Not sure where he got them but I saw them in person.

Why would you get a new tub? The hard part is the vin tag (unless you finally figured that out, I know some people will make them for you).

Personally, I would not consider buying any 2wd blazer that someone swears is a '69. Be happy you have what you think you have.

Good luck, Rg
