Compression ratio of 89 chevy

Anyone have a manual or know what the factory compression ratio is on an 89 K2500 350 (5.7l) chevy? I tried this on the newer message board a while back and got no response. I'm rebuilding my brother-in-laws truck motor and just wanted to see if anyone knew before I take all of the measurements to check it. Thanks. Brian

I am thinking that it is 8.5:1. Some will probably correct me though.

comp ratio

I was thinking about the same, but was curious. I know the new vortec motors have more compression. It has dished pistons and I was wondering if I could get away with flat tops to get up around 9.5 and run a cam about the same size as the vortec motor, maybe even slightly bigger, without effecting any computer crap.
