Narrow vs wide fender 67-72

I was curious what they would look like side-by-side so I put it together. Figured a visual reference for anybody that was ever curious. Quite literally double the width of each fender flare.

The inner fenders themselves are monsters.

I have to admit, I didn't know there were two styles. Was it a chev (narrow) / GMC (wide) thing, or was it year (or model class) specific?

Very interesting.

The fender width was basically dependent on the front axle capacity. The heavier C-60's with air brakes would have the wide fenders, a light C-40 with hydraulic brakes and the 5/10 stud wheels would have the narrow fenders.

Also from 68 to the early 80s the buses had the wide fenders I believe. Case in point this came from a 73 model bus. But the upper bracket that has two bolts going to the cowl are different so you have to add the truck style brackets if you want to use them on a standard 40-70 truck application

I think that is true, the school bus chassis all had the wide fenders to match the wider bus bodies. Funny they kept the '67 Chevy medium duty truck style all the way until 1982 or so.
