log in problem - again.
OK, I'm getting tired of my log in & password constantly dropping from the web site. I've tried everything that has been suggested with no luck. I thought after the web site was updated, this problem would stop, but no luck.
I would like a moderator to contact me and tell me how they are going to correct this problem. |
Re: log in problem - again.
The only people who might be able to help are Liz or Josh. Send them a PM and see if you can get it worked out.
|
Re: log in problem - again.
I will try that.
|
Re: log in problem - again.
Ijust tried to pm both of them and the site kicked me out AGAIN !!

Re: log in problem - again.
Are you trying to log on with a saved password or log on by hand?
I've had trouble with Avast not saving a lot of log in names and passwords lately. They save this site, the HAMB and FB but won't save a lot of others at all. You still have to click the box to stay logged in and not have to log on every time. I've also had a problem every time Windows or a browser does and upgrade and have to physically log on again and check the box to stay longged on and I'll forget to check the box all too often. |
Re: log in problem - again.
Just throwing this out there....I've had problems when my VPN was turned on.
|
Re: log in problem - again.
I have no advice for you. I use Firefox and have Avast. I don't allow either of them to save my passwords. I do have this site save my log in so I don't have to do that every time.

Re: log in problem - again.
I Have allways had my log in saved, but not the password.
Now, I log in, enter password and select the group. I'm in. Then when I want to look at a certian message, I click on than and have to go thru the whole log in process 2 - times before I can look at the message. I also tried creating a new short cut. No luck. Then tried the long way around by doing a google search for the site. When I find it and try to log in, same problem. I'm about ready to give up on being involved in this site. |
Re: log in problem - again.
40+ years in IT doing support for organizations with 5 to 40k users, supporting desktops, networks and servers. Internet security has seen incredible change the last 15 years, if anyone tells you they know it all they are lying. But I think I know a bit.
Security updates on this server are hard for your workstation to deal with, that sucks. The rest of us are Ok-ish. For myself it amounts to seeing the proving your human message once in a while, I don't know my password as I have only used it a handful of times. This desktop is nothing special, at least 6 years old, windows 10, Microsoft security, chrome browser and ad-block. But everything is up to date and I do not have multiple layers of OS and browser security overlapping each other and 'helping' me. I'm writing this from an incognito window that I logged onto the site with yesterday. When I came back to today it showed me the are you human message for a second and here I am still logged in and able to view and post without touching a single key. My opinion is that the problem is on your end, your computer, network, something. If I was responsible for supporting you I'd tell my staff to start by having you test on a different computer connected to same network. I hope you can work through this, I enjoy your participation. |
Re: log in problem - again.
Lee. Thanks for the input. The thing is I'm on 2 jeep websites and the H.A.M.B. site with no problems.
I'm meeting with my son (my tech guy) Sunday so I will have him look into this problem again. |

Re: log in problem - again.
nvrdone,
I think it's important to know the folks that run the site may not be able to do anything about how your computer is misbehaving. It can be tough to figure out what's not working and many people running enthusiast forums are just average people, not internet gods. But folks care on this site I think they're just as frustrated as you if you're having login troubles. I would agree with Leegreen that trying from a different computer on the same network is a good step. Does anyone else in the house have a PC they will let you use for testing? Do you have a smart phone you can use to log into the site? If another device stays logged in then you have a problem on your end, in your PC. Quote:

Re: log in problem - again.
I’ve run into this issue before as well. It won’t except my stored password.

Re: log in problem - again.
Well, yesterday my I.T. guy, my son spent a lot of time trying to figure out my log in problem with no success.
This morning when I went to log in a security verification page (? ) jumped up. After a few seconds I was automatically logged in. Either someone fixed the problem or the site randomly fixed its self. Any way, I will wait and see if it stays fixed. Wish me luck. |
Re: log in problem - again.
Well that fix lasted until today. The site is back to asking for my log in & password TWICE before I can access the site.
Either I just give up or I try creating a new log in & password. Haven't decided what to do. |
Re: log in problem - again.
if the problem is related to your computer creating a new account here is not going to help
|
Re: log in problem - again.
Just tried to post a reply to all my log in problems, but the site replied saying I entered an invalid log in or password.

Re: log in problem - again.
When you take a break from the PC, are you leaving a window open with the forum loaded?
|
Re: log in problem - again.
No. Whenever I'm done playing, I do a complete shut down. This has not been a problem until recently
|
Re: log in problem - again.
Try leaving it running but either locking the screen or just letting it go to sleep.
As a test to see if that keeps the connection to this site in a more user friendly state for you. And maybe clarify which end the problem is at. I lock my desktops when away, rarely shut down. Keeps all my tabs and apps open ready to resume where I left off, so it is much faster to get back to work, and some updates happen without me having to wait. Virtually the same power use as being shut down as both sleep and shut down keep the system alive. Only unplugged is zero power use. Unplugged is unquestionably safer from intrusion, but I take other steps for that. |

I'm not sure if this is resolved but I happened to notice a potential issue today that could definitely be affecting user experience. Without realizing it, I had been accessing the site using unsecure links, that is, old links that start with "http://" instead of "https://" Today each time I loaded a page I had to go through Cloudflare verification and at one point I noticed I was no longer logged in. That's when I noticed that the site was serving an unsecure version of the page. I switched to the secured version of the page, logged in, and was able to get back to browsing the site normally.
I use Firefox and Chrome. Firefox shows a padlock with a red line through it when a page is unsecured. https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...1&d=1747312660 Secured pages are addressed to "https://www." Firefox removes the red line for secured pages. https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...1&d=1747312660 Chrome displays "Not secure" for traditional web addresses. https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...1&d=1747312660 Chrome displays no message if you are seeing a secure version of a page. https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...1&d=1747312660 If you are looking at a non-secure version of the web page, simply add "https://www." in front of the address in the address bar and reload the page. You should see the secure version and from that point any links should work correctly. Images below are redundant. Code:

Re: log in problem - again.
I've tried every idea that has been offered. I thought the problem was fixed, but its back.
I give up. |
Re: log in problem - again.
the site went through a rough patch this weekend from my POV. too busy a few times and on instance where cloudlfair reported a problem with the site. But I have not had to re-login if that is your annoyance still.
It seems better this afternoon. Chances are that rough patch was someone on the Internet trying to break into the site with a distributed attack, its the world we live in. Did you try an entirely new computer and the login problem followed your account? |
Re: log in problem - again.
Tried 3 different laptops and my phone. same problem on all of them. The problem did start with the server being too busy. When the server came back up that's when the log in problem started again. My security is very strong and I don't have this kind of problem on other sites I'm on. I even tried to start a new log in & password with no luck. Tonight the log in was fine, but I'm not holding my breath. When I do get to log in the site works fine for 2 - 3 days and then crashes again.
That's why I'm getting real tired of the problems. And no reply from any moderators. |
Re: log in problem - again.
I have to verify I'm human every time I go to a new thread. Most times I am not being logged out but once in a while I am. It appears they're working on getting a service set up to limit access to the site to valid members. That can be tricky to do.
I know Moderators have no power to fix this. All they can do is what the forum software allows them to do. Things like deleting or editing posts, putting similar threads together, blocking or banning users, and moving threads to an appropriate forum are generally part of moderator powers. It appears Josh, the Administrator, is the guy to talk to. I would either reach out to hom directly or try posting here: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=858016&page=2 . |
