Finally back with a project. 50 Chevy 4400

I've been away awhile but I'm back with a new project. I found a 50 chevy 4400 beet truck that's in really good shape. Runs and drives. I'm hopefully going to pick it up next weekend. For now I'm going to make it run and stop ok-ish and use it to run 4 miles to the dump and back. Eventually I'd like to end up with a 4wd flatbed with more modern running gear. Anybody else done something similar? These old 1 1/2 and 2T trucks are everywhere in ranch country. Also, what's the shift pattern with these 4+2s?

This should be a fun project! Here is a link to GM Heritage Center Vehicle Info for 1950 Trucks.

And a sample of the pages, there was no shift pattern diagram but maybe it’s on the shift knob? Or figure out which trans it has and search with that
