drop spindles 2.5" and springs 2". Align spec
.
I've got the 2.5" spindles and 2" springs on otherwise stock suspension. I've read through most of the threads here that were returned on a Title search for "camber" as there was only 1 page of results. What I'm reading is that on these trucks with these lowering specs, the camber adjustment available/possible by adding shims is within acceptable specifications ( around -0.5 or so ). After my recent offroad adventure, I've got roughly -0.8 and -1.0 camber at max shims installed on the -1 side and maybe a small bit of more-toward-positive on the -0.8 side still available. If my frame rails are factory straight and suspension components hanging from the frame are all not compromised/bent/warped, do the above numbers make any sense? I'm trying to find proof positive based on experience here that I've got either frame problems or other components mucked up. Thoughts? EDIT: The side with -1.0 camber has 4 thick shims in the front and rear (equal) positions. The other side has the same number. Thank you, -Kevin |
Re: drop spindles 2.5" and springs 2". Align spec
For a lowered truck, I'd target .5 - .75° Negative Camber.
Tell the alignment guy you want as much Positive Caster as possible while still landing within that Camber target. The amount will vary. Factory Caster was minimal & it takes modding to get the more aggressive Caster numbers similar to modern vehicles. Anything over +3° is good. My CC Squarebody Dually was modded & yielded > +6° Caster. My OBS '99 CC 3/4 ton is around +4.1 - 4.6° (both lowered w/spindles + drop springs). |

This my or may not help you as it not apples to apples but the link is from my Burban when it was bagged in the front with stock spindles. It does have photos of the shim stacks and some explanations on how changing them affected my alignment specs.
https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...nt#post8018309 P.S. I did the "Caster mod" to the truck before hitting the alignment rack. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=501241 I have since removed the air bags and reinstalled 2 inch drop springs with the factory spindles. The photo is from the current set up. |
