What year rear end are you guys swapping into.your burban. Mine is a 5 lug right now out a 72 Chevy but the gear ratio is crap wanting to go to a 3.73 or something close to that just not sure what year would work

I put 3.73's in mine. I used a thick gear set so I could use the 3 series posi I had with the 3.07's. The 12 bolt axle is plenty rugged enough for 1/2 tons under 600 or so horsepower.

If I remember it was around $1800. I needed a new axle on the drivers side and I had bad spider gears in the carrier so a used carrier added to the cost. That was with all new bearings and seals through out and the axle housing checked for straightness.

Is your Burban coils or leaf springs?

It's coil springs

Here's a link that should help. I know there are several threads with more information on using squarebody rear axles if you do a search you can find them.

Well I found a 1978 Big 10 axle with 3.40 gears should match up better with my LS/4L60E. Was told.ita good axle but would anyone have any suggestions on what to look for before I start welding on new perches for my trailing arm suspension
