Front Disc Brake Question-are these the original rotors?

2 Attachment(s)
I'm the second owner of a 1971 C10. Both front rotors have this deep groove in the center (the brakes work fine, no noise, grabbing etc). I don't think the previous owner ever changed them (there is only 55 K miles on the truck). Does anyone know if the original rotors came with this groove in them?

I've got original rotors just like that. I'd say they are originals.

.

Indeed, I too have a set with the groove in the middle. No doubt those things are better than what you buy new today if they're still thick enough.

Right, and iirc, that groove's bottom is the discard thickness.

FWIW, if there was a scratch running around a rotor and the rest of it was smooth, I wouldn't recommend a new rotor to a customer. The minimal "loss of performance" would go away once the pad wore into the groove. These weren't racers, just people driving their cars for daily needs.
