I have finally decided I want a radio in my truck.

What dash speaker brand are you running. Or has the best fit

Sound in these trucks isn't going to be thrilling using the stock speaker mounting locations.

Single speaker in the center or speakers in the dash corners?

You used to be able to buy mounting brackets for 4x10 & 6x9 rear corner B-pillar speakers in the pickup cabs.
A few 1980 & prior pickups had speakers mounted in the doors under the vent window.
Really strange looking afterthought but this is supposedly a stock 1980 & prior door speaker setup.
Almost like a wart grew there. They don't have reasonable size speakers inside either.

Some of the SUVs, Suburban & full-size Blazers, had optional speakers mounted behind the rear seats in the rear 1/4 panel trim. I've forgotten if these are 6x9 or 4x10. Probably 4x10. Likely there are 6x9 brackets available.

Under dash center speakers are 4x10.
Under dash outside corner speakers are 3-1/2" speakers.

The dash speakers are a challenge to fit. GM used special low profile speakers so many of the aftermarket speakers are too tall to fit under the pad or grilles. Similar to the 1981-1984 VW Rabbit with the 3-1/2" speakers in the outer edges of the dash. You'll need to look underneath and fabricate a bracket to mount dash speakers.

There are aftermarket kick panel speakers that look better than the GM door warts in the 1973-80 cabs but I can't say how they sound.

I used these brackets to mount Kenwood Excelon 3 1/2" dash speakers under the dash. Worked great.

I actually have one sitting in my pile of stuff, but with Kenwood Excelon speakers. It wouldn't fit in my setup because of where I mounted the ECU for my fuel injection.

If you're talking about going back original with a new updated components and technology. We have those parts. Our radio fits the holes and the dash to where you don't have to cut or modify the dash. The dash speakers and the rear speakers both fit the original brackets. If you don't have the rear brackets, we have that as well. The brand is Retrosound which our partnership for those parts and has been a great one with little to none issues. I put the links below for the original replacement parts.

I started to design and build these when I got to the audio stage of my build. Much better. I run no speakers under my dash.
