My recently aquired project

1 Attachment(s)
1980 GMC K30 Custom Deluxe 4x4 454 with a 60's Avion Camper. It's been sitting for quite some time with 1 full tank and 1 1/4 tank of bad gas. Drivers rear fender got a good ole sunburn in the fiberglass. The ole Rochester was gummed and stuck badly (carb cleaner did nothing), and it had a very bad "pop pop" when opening the throttle. Drivers side was extremely rich.

Rebuilt the carb, still had the pop issue. New plugs (the big ones), so now I have to check float level and ex pump specs because this has the big spark plugs and is in no way a 1980 as I thought, and replaced the cap, rotor, and new plug wires brought this beast back to life. Yup, burning that smelly gas just fine....for now.

Now just to get the head and block numbers to see what Pop's put in.

I'm still finishing the 67 c10 but have to complete it solo now.

I really like that truck and camper setup! What a find.

That is a neat combo you have there.

I was looking at a mid Fifties International with a classic aluminum shell for a minute.

I will benup in Sparks in mid August to visit friends, and Summit

Thank you. Got to get rid of the wasp's in the vents of the camper and get it cleaned up.

I forgot to mention it's a 4 speed too. There's also a pile of jacks/legs for the camper that I have to figure out. I only see one spot where the jacks would go which is just above and to the right of that old floor jack handle sitting beside it. Darn near the middle? I have to research the camper to see how to set the jacks and take it off the right way.

BTW, I'm not changing anything other than mechanical/electrical repairs and take care of that fender. It will stay this way until I go.

I just stepped into a rabbits hole with this truck. Vin says it's Chevy not GMC. So it's got a GMC grill in it. I'm dreading trying to decode the rest of the vin number further to see if the 454 was meant for it, and what year the motor really is.:waah:

454 was installed after it came from the factory. Look at the spid on the glove box door if it is still legible. Big blocks were not available in the 4x4s until the mid 1990s
