Black Screws for headlight bezels?
Hi guys, I have black painted headlight bezels on the front of my '69.
The thing currently has silver (steel) screws. I don't know what size they are but hoping someone can steer me to a set of black screws that won't stand out against the black bezel. Prefer to order online than to go hunting at the hardware store. Thank you |
Re: Black Screws for headlight bezels?
Is Home Depot a hardware or lumber store?
Either way they’ve got lots of them. |
Re: Black Screws for headlight bezels?
If they're the same size as those for a 1971-72 bezel, then they're #1 phillips countersunk oval head tap screws. The screw threads are #8 x 1/2", course thread.

Soak them in vinegar and black oxide them.

The offensive Dremel brass brushes clean stuff up nicely. You learn to dislike those and the stainless before 1k pieces; guess I should have bought a tumbler. |

Re: Black Screws for headlight bezels?
Solution i use for this is stick the screws in a piece of cardboard and paint black. SEM trim black dries fast, is durable and easily touched up. Done in a few minutes with no hassle.
