2pc driveshaft to 1pc
 

Like to do away with two piece driveshaft in Panel and replace with one piece.
Looking into it only negative was alignment trans to rear and vibration at high spd. The later is bigger concern since I have been know to multiply spd limits.

Have no problem with going bigger diameter shaft if does away with carrier bearing , bracket and all the extra to have two piece. Has to be less weight and probably less rotating weight in long run. Plus front shaft would have to be shortened for transmission swap 3spd to 4 spd auto.

Wondering who here has done so and thoughts either way.

I converted the factory 1/2 ton carrier to an aftermarket billet bearing with a splined slider in the rear drive shaft. Was smooth as silk with no vibrations. It was replaced after I removed the T400 installed a T350 with Gearvendor. At that point I went to a single drive line which works good also. The WMB has been over 85 mph with both setups.

The vibration issues I've experienced have been solved by first replacing the 100k mile original carrier bearing. Followed by rebuilding the rear axle, followed by replacing the yoke on the pinon gear. The factory carrier bearing contributed the least amount to the total vibrations I was experiencing. The rear axle rebuilding solve the largest portion of the vibrations. That was due to the posi carrier was disintegrating into small pieces and being ground up by the gears.

The single driveline set up starts on post 671. The billet 2 piece failure is earlier on the page but it's failure was due to being improperly shortened by the drive line shop to fit the Gearvendor.

My Z/28 has had a vibrations at 95 from day one..Guy at dealership asked why going 95, When informed him it went away at 135 he reaction was funny as hell. then told him it has 150 on speedo and should not vibrate till after that but does not even at 170. Kind of same reaction .LOL

Panel has not really had vibration I have noticed and that was with speedo on mph. Then with bouncing from no suspension I probably would not have noticed it.
