I went up to the Yakima Vintiques North West Nationals and met up with my son in law and did a walk through of the show this afternoon.

Here are the trucks and maybe a few others that I took photos of before the heat got to me.

The little blue bobber truck was pretty interesting.

An in progress TF back in the corner and a pedal tractor, Spendy Mustang pedal car (900) a set of new Lancer hubcaps that looked to be 14 inch and a patina sporty car pedal car along with wheel weight hammer I bought.

My son in law and I decided that that tractor was too nice to get for my grandson - his nephew as he would have it banged up in a day.

They had the lawn mower drags again and most of them run 4 cylinder bike motors. They are quick.

Then my friend Lee Olson's custom chopped and sectioned Chevy convertible with a beautiful 292 in it.

The Model A belongs to the guy who gave me the cab for my truck last winter and the Maroon TF is just flat nice.

The Orange GMC is a pretty decent looking 4x4.

A couple of 71/72 long beds. I think the white snagged a spot that someone usually lays claim to every year.

A mooneyes vendor had their booth set up in the sun dome and were doing a good business. They didn't have the shirt I wanted in my size though.

At that time I was beat and my son inlaw was tired because he had worked swing shift last night and then went in at five and worked this morning.

I decided That I wanted a beer with my burger so I drove over to Bob's burger and brew and ended up parking behind Nvrdone's truck in parking lot and talked to him for a minute inside. He had been busy helping with the show and was involved in running the poker run this morning. Can't hide from the Camera Man.

That's it and I wished I had been able to take a lot more photos and look a lot more but my knees had a fit and the 93 degree heat didn't help.

Hey Rob: Thanks for the shout out. The Rod Run is always fun but tonight I'm tired. This is my 3rd year being involved in it.
For anyone in the PNW who hasn't been to this show, I would encourage you to come next year.

I was telling my son in law today the first time I went to that show was in 1978. In 1977 when I was moving back to washington state from Texas I passed a lot of rods headed back home from Yakima on Sunday afternoon in Oregon.

The Vintiques always work hard putting the event on and it always is a fun one.

I usually take over 300 photos and only took 85 I think.

This year we had approx 730 cars register for the show. Car registration was $70.00 includes the bbq, the bands and a few other supprises.
General admission was $15.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors and kids 6 - 17, kids under 6 were free.
We also had approx 1000 general admission people walk in.
What area of WA are you in? We may have to do a better job of advertising in your area.
Hope to see you next year.

The show has a lot of competition these days not the least of which is is the first weekend of Bonneville and the first weekend of hot August nights in Reno.

Plus Deuce days North West in Victoria was two weeks ago and is a very expensive even to go to taking the spendable money for a lot of Rodders and Goodguys was at Puyallup last weekend. Those drained the budget for a lot of pnw people who might have showed up.

Too many 60's beater cars may cause a drop in the spectator gate as people pay money to be impressed and clapped out rusted mid 60's 4 door sedans don't impress many people. There were some very high level cars there including two Mopars that were rotisserie builds by one of my former students.

Back in the 1980s there was a big contingent of rods from BC and Alberta that would come down to Yakima for the weekend and leave out Sunday afternoon for Reno for Hot August nights the next weekend or leave for Wendover for speedweek. Some managed to hit all three and those who were at Yakima this weekend could have left this morning and be sitting in Wendover this evening for a few days of watching the cars run but not the big deal at the casino parking lot and then head west to Reno and stop there for a day or two and then head home.

I had fun no longer than I was there, my son in law caught me as I was walking through the show as he had headed out there for a couple of hours to look around and we had some fun together without the gals along. I just got tired and my knees hurt something terrible. I think I am going to sell off some stuff that I just don't need and buy a decent mobility scooter.

How about one of the lawn mower rides modified for mobility?

I'm not sure that that gal with the hand stamp would let me in the gate if I was riding a stock riding mower without a deck on it.

Those guys were only accelerating 50 or 60 ft and it took a hundred yards to stop and be able to make the corner. -------------------------------

Actually I have been eyeballing a couple that are somewhat all terrain in that they can handle the grassy areas of parks and fairgrounds where car shows and other events get put on. I should have a pair of folding aluminum ramps that my mom's side kick used to load her lawnmower in a pickup when she mowed the lawn at the school house he owned. That will let me load one in one of the pickups.

A few more that were posted by the Yakima Vintiques Car Club on FB. All creds for these photos go to the Vintique member who took them.

Outside of one I missed these at the show.

The rest of the trucks from the Vintiques FB post.
I'm not sure exactly who posted them.

The show is a bit different than many as even in the big middle of the show on Saturday a good number of people will decideto take their car or truck and run off to eat somewhere or run to one of the Grocery stores or just go cruise around.
