2/4 drop on 72 C10
 

What's the current consensus to get something like a 2/4 drop on my 72 C10? Looking to reduce a little bit of wheel gap and get a little better handling.

I know ECE use to make a 2/4 drop kit but they're long gone

I found a 2/4 drop kit on western chassis website.

I know about RideTech's street grip but I don't want to drop the truck that much or notch the frame

So what are folks thoughts??

Dropped spindles in the front with stock springs. This doesn't effect the steering and suspension geometry.. Then for small amounts of lowering, go with either dropped springs or lowering blocks. Either way, 4 inches in the rear will probably require a frame notch..

Or you might use the approach I used on my truck.. Originally, it came with a 250 I6.. I installed a 454 BBC. Along with 2 1/2" dropped spindles and retaining the I6 front springs, the bumper is only 9" above the pavement. Retaining the 15" wheels and 3 inch lowering blocks in the rear give the truck a nice "Hot Rod Rake"..

To maintain the focus on handling, I would suggest - as others have - drop spindles for the front. For the rear I would use 2" blocks and 2" shorter springs to maintain handling as much as possible (i.e., by retaining as much spring as possible).

I did 2-1/2" drop spindles in the front with new stock height springs and progressive rate 4" drop springs in the rear.
