Wiring a Heated Seat
 

I've installed a heated seat kit from LMC Truck. I've got the components in the seat, and the wires running under my mat to the dash, and even have the button installed in my dash. You can read about how I wouldn't suggest buying this from LMC at my project thread post number 9

What I need help with is how to connect to power. The instructions are as follows: "Connect to a sitched source capable of driving 10 Amps continuous current"

I'm including a photo of my fuse panel and would love any instructions on how to do this so that the seat heaters can only be powered when the truck is running. There is a red wire and a black wire that need to be connected. There was also included in the pack, what appears to be an "inline fuse" but no instructions on how or why to use that.

I'm a novice mechanic, and have even fewer electrical skills, but if someone can get me started that would be awesome! Thanks,

I would find a pinout of the fuse box and check with multimeter to confirm but I believe that the spade terminal in "IGN." is switched by the ignition. The black wire is ground so that can hook to the chassis anywhere convenient. The red to IGN. Cut the pigtail on the inline fuse and use that inline with your red wire to IGN terminal.

Thanks, Bnorth. I don't know what a pinout is, but I have learned how to connect to a spade terminal and I used a multimeter to confirm as you said. I understand what you are saying about the inline fuse. I plan to sort this out tomorrow. THANKS!

the pin that says acc is accessory. thats what I'd use. you can buy those seat heater kits from oreillys. put one in my 06 crewcab worktruck.

LMC doesn't make anything--they just sell other maker's stuff so blaming them for your not understanding how to wire the heater is a little disingenuous.
That isn't an endorsement of LMC since I have no particular fondness for them. Blaming them for nothing isn't a great idea.

To clarify, I'm only blaming LMC for selling something that doesn't have a long enough wire run to be mounted on the dash, and not knowing where else to mount it.

Thanks for all the responses. I just need to figure out the ground, and I'm golden. I got side tracked with doing some compounding and polishing, but I'll get back to wiring soon.
