Painless Harness
So this is a crazy question. I installed a painless harness in my 79 about 10 years ago. I wired a push button start. Disconnected the purple wire from my neutral safety switch. Ran a positive from my 15 A fuel pump fuse (I have a mechanical pump). I have had problems with the push button going bad, got a new style. Again it quit working. I simply hook the purple back to my neutral switch and I am up and running again. Drove about 200 ft. It was like someone turned the key off. Truck dead. Here is the crazy thing. I lost all power, no horn, radio lights, flashers, nothing. pulled the wires off my push button, still dead. Checked all my fuses, including my fuel pump. The wiper fuse was popped. Replaced and I have power back. Drove home, no problems, get home and pulled that wiper fuse and still running. Any idea what happened? I have now removed the push button. I have replaced the button about 3 times in the last 10 years, not worth the hassle.
Sorry for the long post but I am at a loss. It is like I had a time reset breaker in my system. Total loss of power does not make sense. |
Re: Painless Harness
I would have thought your popped your 70 Amp Maxifuse on the painless harness. I've done that before on my old 52 chevy that had a painless harness in it. 70 Amp fuses are not that common.
