One of the best videos of thesetrucks I've seen--1976

1976: Texas to Canada - 2000 Miles of Harvest | World About Us | Classic Documentary | BBC Archive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk4x...hdJ-BA&index=7

I know, it's a long video and you gotta find the footage yourself, but look at 1:27

BABY! 427 c60!

@ 3:41 you'll see a C20/30 but I think it's a Super, buckets? Stick shift!!!!!
@10:29 He's got a phone in it.
@11:11, is that a bucket seat? Has AC vents; uncracked steering wheel $$$$
@15:13 Same truck? Longhorn?
@17:49 you can see it has the roof headliner trim
@17:58 Is that a tach cluster?

@15:23 Another big Tandem

@15:55 The miss's has herself a new squarebody.

@19:07 they don't make women like that anymore; she handles it well.

@24:49 What a sight
@27:16 :gmc2:

3:23, it's a bench seat. I don't see a Super emblem on it. I think it is the same truck, Longhorn, hauls a BA LOAD. The Cheyenne came factory with a headliner, at least speaking for 71 it did, probably others too. 1972 mirror. Glove panel appears simple, I think that's "just" a Cheyenne.

Great stuff! That’s the era of equipment we were working with when I was helping a buddy out just a few years back. I’ll have to dig up a pic or two. Those guys would be blown away at the scale of grain operations these days!

Great video! I loved seeing the highly equipped Longhorn and the early Squarebody earning their keep. The operator was sure a Chevrolet fan.

I never knew there were so many songs about harvesting wheat/combining.

$23,000 for a new combine!

I wonder how they got some of those shots inside the cabs with the camera equipment of the day. It was a well-done production on the whole.

Brings back many fond memories of helping my father-in-law with harvest. It's unbelievable how stressful it all is. especially dealing with the weather, protein/quality deductions at sale time, breakdowns and market conditions. He was a very family/small-time operation and only hired custom combiners on a couple of occasions when his combine suffered a major breakdown. I never graduated to running a combine, but I did do a fair amount of grain hauling/augering. It was a sad day when he retired and had his auction.

At 3:20 is that a radio telephone? A rare and very expensive item if so. Something only big oilmen and ranchers would put down money for IIRC

That could be a CB Radio. I had one back in the day. It was easier to hear with a headset.

Floor shift tilt column. Those trucks are probably still running somewhere.
