Does anyone have pictures of motor mounts and front cross member on a 72 k20 I’m thinking of pulling out my 396 and installing a 454 .I had this 396 in another 72k20 I had a different cross member.when installing in this truck I had to shave 1/2” off the cross member to get the crank pulley.I don’t think the 454 pulley will clear.

Re: 396 swap

The 396 and 454 pulleys are the same and fully interchangeable. If you have a special size on the 396, the 3 bolt holes in the balancer should be in the same place and you could move the 396 pulley over.

Re: 396 swap

The mounts on BBC blocks are all the same. But you can move the mounts on the frame forward and back quite a bit to make it fit right.

Be aware that with a complete truck, that affects everything from header clearance to driveshaft length(s).
