How to remove rear fender flares on OBS GMC

One of my OEM fender flares needs to come off the truck so I can repair the flare. I can get almost all the nuts off except a few at the top of the flare. Any suggestions? Anyone ever done it?

I can easily remove all the small screwws and even got most of the cap nuts off the bigger bolts attached to the flare itself, but there are at least two way up high inside the are impossible to reach. Any ideas how to get this all the way off?

There is a couple of u-tube video's that might be helpful.

They are both Tahoe's so it my be somewhat different for the rear flares.

I truly appreciate the suggestion but you are correct in that they are Tahoe based videos. Tahoes have access from the interior after removing panels. There are no panels to remove from the inside of my pickup truck. I wish I could just cut a hole and reach in there, but that is pretty drastic.

I think if you are up to the challenge;)

You would be the first one to make a video of this process.

Do you have a Pull a Part type salvage yard near you with a truck that is on the lot?

If so this would be a good practice truck.

Otherwise to the top for someone that has took one of these off. :mm:

Thanks for your input. You have some good suggestions. There is a yard about an hour away. I will see what I can figure out in htere As far as I can figure out right now if you cut a hole on the inside bed side you could access the hidden nuts and remove them. A video is clearly needeed. I could also imagine cutting with a sawzall between the truck body and the fender flare but it would most likely tear of the truck side. I will see what I can come up with still hopeing for someone with actuall experience. I may talk to a body shop about this too.

To The Top for someone that has hands on experience.

Just for Visual purposes, Mcmaster Carr has a lot of body plugs.

You can drill a hole in their truck and find the location then use a hole saw on your truck.

If you use the correct diameter hole saw you can deburr the hole ,spray some paint on the edges and pop the plug in.

You can probably scrounge around the junk yard and maybe find the access body plugs for free.;)

Thanks . I like your suggestion about using plugs after drilling holes. I may have to do that Just gotta figure out where to drill. The salvage yard is looking better and better .

I have done a similar project to this.

It will help if you take a tape measure and a straight edge and a sharpie with you.

Then write your dimensions down from the front Or the back.

Pick one or the other so you can read your measurement and make sense of them when you get home.

I have made drawings then be looking at them like :uhmk:
