any of you make your own frame?

I am about to clear out my current job in my shop and was thinking about my 68 four eyes coming in next. I have some itching to build my own frame, I like the idea of power rack and just updating the suspension with newer ideas. I wont be laying frame or doing air bags nothing crazy just thinking about coil overs just to get it down a bit and ........ I really dont know why else but I kinda have it in mind. Any one else do this? what did you do for front suspension crossmember? did you make your own or buy one already done? I'm thinking about just a regular 4x3 back half with I assume a 2x3 front. why are your guy's thoughts? Jim

If you have the fixtures, tools, space, and skills to build your own, by all means that's bad ass, do it and bring us along for the ride!

I do not have the time to dedicate to getting it right. I went with a No Limit Engineering set up, coil overs, SBC, notch, rack & pinion, etc. Not their whole chassis, just the front crossmember and trailing arm rear. Rob is super knowledgeable on these old trucks and very helpful any time I've had a question.

All of the parts to put a brand new frame together can be easily purchased without the need for custom metal work.

Frame Rails are available from multiple sources.

It would sure be nice if they made those rails for the K trucks that are prone to frame cracking.

Yes i built my own, huge job but fun and challenging. Unless you have a large flat/set up table you should not do it. Most likely you can buy a chassis from roadster shop for about the same as you would spend on buying everything to do your own.

I guess I could use my frame pulling machine as a frame table so that wouldn't be a problem there. I dont know why I keep thinking about this but you know some people get something on their minds and just can't shake it
