Power steering offset

1 Attachment(s)
Hello

The power steering pulley and the crank pulley are off by about 1/4 in thereabouts. Not sure why I didnt notice it before. Could I press that pulley further back into the pump or would I need a new set of crank pulleys?

Thanks!

I've got a twin to that pump sitting out back and If I can put it on my things to remember to do in the morning list I'll get a photo or two with measurements but I think with that pump and pulley on is on and it isn't like the later pressed on pulleys.

I put a 78 350 in my 71 and had to run a long water pump to be able to see the timing mark That took using the matching pump and brackets.

Could be the camera lens is causing it, but it looks like the pump is cocked a little. I'd take a look at the mounting brackets to see what could be done. Maybe a slight relocation by enlarging holes and/or some friendly persuasion (bending). Of course it won't take care of the offset between pulleys,

I've seen high mileage cars that the brackets have bent and the pulleys no longer all align. I was thinking that it could be camera aberration, too.

I didn't find the right pump I was looking for.

UPDATE: I put a wrench on the pulley bolt and was able to get 1/2 a full rotation out of it. The PS and crank pulley are almost perfectly lined up. Maybe off by a 16th or so.
Thanks!

Problem solved! Was that the center bolt? If so that means the damper wasn't on all the way. Or is the pulley held on to the damper by three bolts?

I tightened the nut on the power steering pulley.

Thanks!
