Need a frame

Last weekend I bought a 67 k10 shortbed.
The bed came separate and there is a wooden flatbed on it.
The entire truck is in incredible condition. Clean, no rust.
Got it for a good price because it had a "reconstructed" title.
The vin indicated that it was a C10 at birth. Not a big deal.
Problem is that it was mounted on a squarebody, k10 frame.
The kickup on the frame, under the rear of the cab, is too far forward.
The truck has a forward rake and it will never line up with the bed without an estimated 4 to 6 inch body lift under the core support.

Not sure what it takes to convert a c10 frame to a k10 frame.

Here is my favorite thread on this subject in the link below.

You will be money ahead if you find the correct frame.

I am, or should be, a premium member. I paid for it yesterday through paypal.
I will contact an administrator when I see one come online.
I've been a member here for ten years now. Been working on off topic cars.
Now I'm doing this 67 k10 and am going to need the help of this forum.

Many folks use the squarebody frame for availability of parts or whatever. You'll need a 2" body lift (I think that is correct number might be more )in order to run the older cab onto it, then you'll be fine.

Re: Need a frame

One remedy that I was looking at would be to cut each frame rail twice.
One cut just before the kickup and the other just before the spring perch.
Then flip the cut section over to bring the longer straight section to the underside of the cab. And, of course, weld them back together.
I'm sure that would work but do I really want to go there?
I'd much rather find a decent 68-72 K10 frame. Shorten it if I must.
Truck is running a 283, th350 with the np203 Tcase.
I have a fresh 327, 700r4 and np205 Tcase sitting here just itching to go into this truck.
It will end up with 3.73 gearsets before it hits the road.
It will be much easier to build the new frame on the side and then switch over the cab and axles.
I'll try to get some pics up, but I am computer challenged. Like most of us older guys are.

Bill, thanks for the input. I am not looking to do a body lift. As cool as that would be I'm getting older and not as agile as I used to be.
I need to keep it stock height so I can get in and out of it without making a groaning noise.
One cool thing I did already was to put a shortened tilt column in it. That added some, much needed belly room.

administrator- there was no mention of selling anything in my previous post. I have provided lower control arms to members free of cost. You need to calm down, or just suspend me for helping people out.
