Panhard and pumpkin cover

What differential cover/panhard bar are people using? I have a big billet aluminum cover right now and the bar doesn't clear the cover. I started to make a new longer bar but without a bend the angle is too much for this cover. so I'm thinking about getting a new cover and would like to know what everyone has used..

Re: Panhard and pumpkin cover

I have a stock differential cover on my 72 LWB and used an adjustable panhard bar from Performance Online. It clears the diff from the factory mount to the u-bolt bracket at all ride heights. Your panhard bar looks beefier than the POL one.

And this autospell check doesn't recognize panhard, it replaces it with panhandle. Smart phone they say.

My Moser girdle cover seems to clear on mine. I have a no-limit engineering trailing arm and panhard setup with coil-overs, though. I forgot to take pics last week, I can get some in another week or so when I put the rear back under the truck.

Re: Panhard and pumpkin cover

I would ditch the cover. Simplify the Panhard installation and provide better oil splash to the pinon bearings with a factory cover. Here's Gale Banks explaining the problem with aftermarket covers.

Thanks for the responses, I guess I'll go back with a stock style cover. Any suggestions on manufacture?

@ho455 thanks for the Video link!! it was very informative.

I have a stock Dana 60 diff cover, but I installed a CPP track bar kit with the curve to clear diff covers. Plently of clearance for much deeper covers. Classic Performance (CPP) CP32021B.

Re: Panhard and pumpkin cover

I read a while back that many aftermarket covers perform poorly overall because they are not correctly engineered to control the splash back onto the gear set. May or may not be the case but it is a secondary reason to go back to stock cover.

Watch the video link in post 4 for the low down on aftermarket covers.
