!965 C10 clutch size.
Hi All, I'm wondering... on a 65 C10 with a 230 6 cylinder. 3 speed on the column ( I believe its the muncie 318 trans) Can I upsize the clutch to an 11" from 10" and use the old flywheel or does it require a new flywheel to upsize as well?
Update: Well we pulled the bell housing. turns out this truck had the 11" clutch upgrade. So back went the 10" I ordered and grabbed an 11" from Napa. Only issue is they only sell the raised diaphragm pressure plate which includes the short throw out bearing. The old 11" was flat diaphragm pressure plate and long throw out bearing. Anybody have issues swapping from flat to raised diaphragm? It looks like it should work ok and fit in bell housing and still line up with fork. |
Re: !965 C10 clutch size.
I had no issues swapping from a raised diaphragm to a flat, other than figuring out there was a difference after I put everything back together and tried to use the clutch

lol... that would get your attention! So once you sorted things out and adjusted etc... do you notice raised pressure plate any difference.. as in more force to depress ...smoother use or worse? etc?

Sorry for the delay in responding, was out of service for a couple days.
It’s been a few years since I did the swap, but I don’t recall noticing much of a difference, if any. |
