seat belts work good as new

Hello all,

1989 v2500. I wanted to share with all of you the outcome of new webbing for the seatbelts.

I tried all the stuff you rear online, Cleaned the webbing, added some tension to the retractors etc. Nothing solved the issue of it not easily retracting the belt and always slop hanging.

I was ready to buy aftermarket belts but decided to go new webbing first. The new webbing 100% solved my belt issue. New webbing is super slick, so much it slides off the table like a fresh waxed hood.

THe hardest part is getting the old retractors unbolted. Once out, uncoil the retractor, slip in the new webbing and stitch.

The rear seat measures 7' for should and 4' for lap. I ordered 4 yard for each side. I will take a few pictures of the front when i do it and post below.

There are dozens of videos online about the retractors. I removed the device connecting the retractors together, If is for car seats and so the belt locks and you have to return it and pull it back out again. PIA

If you are on the fence about this, i recommend doing it. The nice webbing from Seatbelts Plus was 5$ a yard, (25$ per seat and it is still very OEM).

If you do not have a machine, you could easily prep/assemble it and take it to any boat/bimini/canvas shop and have it stitched.

Chris
