WIW - NOS Rockwell T221 Transfercase
5 Attachment(s)
So, as many of you read in my build post, I was able to score a NOS Rockwell T221 transfer case. As I was told by the guy I bought it from, it was part of a parts sale from a closed down Chevy dealership in California. He purchased it in the early '90's with a pallet of other parts and it sat in an open air warehouse ever since. It still has the cardboard sleeves on the shaft stubs and the special caps that seal it up. I opened up the top cover and you can still see the machining marks on the gears. It would definitely need new seals and there is surface rust on the case itself, but otherwise a new T221.
I bought this thinking that I would keep it as a spare for mine, but I am now leaning towards moving to an automatic transmission for my K20 along with a swap to an NP205. As far as I know, this is the only NOS T221 around. Any idea what its worth?? Thanks, Clay |

Here is what Torque King ask for their parts when they have them in stock.

I looked at the Torque King selection. They really seem to be on the higher side of the price scale on just about everything though. I did an Internet search for rebuilt / reman NP205's and they go for anywhere from $1800 to $2500 or so depending on rebuild quality. I was thinking of pricing these case in the $1500 range. Does that seem too high? Clay |

I don't think so.

I think I will post in on the parts board and see what happens then.
Thanks! Clay |
