Anyone out there got pics or measurements on where to glue new foam strips?

Interesting thread. What do these seals accomplish? I'm thinking in-cab wind noise abatement.

I don't have a clue. I've never had a truck (I've had 10 or 12 of the 67-72) that had them.

I think im going to glue mine to the cowl instead of the cab. They will be inthe same place once installed.

That's where I've always seen them, on the panel. I just forgot where they go.

Always nice to see that my thread(s) end up useful!

I installed these when I put in my Hinge Pillar to Fender Seals. I think these two seals go hand & hand. The cowl seals are far easier to get installed than the fender seals, that's for sure.

I put it off for a few years and when I did, I slapped on a "Super" badge while I was there to make it more rewarding to me. I can't really say how much the cowl seals helped but the whole setup did make a difference. That being said, having them installed likely just makes me feel better, since missing them is a bit of a ding when you have a Cheyenne.

Exactly what I'm thinking, which would explain why they only came in the higher end model trucks. Also, I seem to remember reading that the Caprice Classic had more sound insulation (under the carpets, etc.) than lower end models, like the Biscayne. Cadillacs and Buicks may have had even more.

My 72 Cheyenne has them or I should say had them. I need to replace after paint.

I believe the main purpose is prevent metal on metal issues...adding some very minor soundproofing.
