Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
2 Attachment(s)
I have built this 71 k5 blazer close enough to factory specs and now my painter offered to paint a white stripe in the middle for a reasonable fee. BUT im torn between the two tone and the factory style paint (solid). so i thought i would put it out to you ALL. i will include two options mine being the solid at this time
Please be honest. Thank you all in advance, Dave |
Re: Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
mine is the solid paint one i am going to install my white top when it gets out of paint

Re: Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
I would stay with the solid paint. The 2 tones look pretty good on a blazer but was never offered with that scheme and upper trim. White top and wheels should set it off nicely.

Solid don’t waste your money

Too much white once you factor in the white top. Id stick with solid

Re: Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
Love the two tone. My dad's 72 truck was solid blue. I did a color change on the main color of my 72 project to blue because a blue 72 provides good memories.
Though the Blazers never came with the "deluxe" two tone. It is different. I love the look and respect those that take the time and effort to make the change. Then again I am not a purist. I do what I like. It is my truck, not an investment I am hoping to be worth whatever. Reality imo is that maybe only a perfect stock resto would command more money if stock is maintained. I think the A pillars should be white as well on the two tone Blazer. |
Re: Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
Depends what you want. I was originally going to paint mine orange as well, but decided against it because half of the Blazer out there get painted orange. I would 2-tone it just to stand out from the sheep. If the truck isn't painted yet (not sure if the pictures above are ones you found online), be different and don't go orange. The comment I get the most from my truck is the color. It suits the truck.
Pastel colors look great on these trucks but any high modern metallic color doesn't suit the lines. You wanted an honest opinion, that's mine, but at the end of the day paint it the way you like it because it's you that will be enjoying it. |
Re: Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
To me, a new two-tone paint job stands out more than a solid paint job. And it's the opposite when you have an old paint job. But that's just me.

the solid orange one on top of this thread is mine. i like both orange and orange/ white. cant make up my mind... ! |
Re: Need you honest opinion on two tone or solid paint
Up to you, but unless you plan on installing the upper trim as well, I'd leave it a solid color.
The two-tones do look nice, and Chevy even brought that scheme back not too long ago, but without some separation where the upper line will be, it just wouldn't look right. |

I vote for the solid color. The white top is large enough and is enough.
