Square body front crossmember on 64 C10?

1 Attachment(s)
Howdy folks.

I'm looking at square body front crossmembers locally in order to swap the complete unit into my 64 C10 to convert to disc brakes.

I would like to keep the truck on the 6 bolt wheels i have. Is that an option or were all square bodies 5 bolt?

There are several 6 lug disc brake conversion kits out there. Might be an easier way to go rather than swapping out the whole crossmember?

All 2 wheel drive half ton squares were 5 lugs. 6 lug rotors are available from aftermarket vendors however.

Better off using aftermarket spindle/disc kit with 6 lug rotors. You'd be rebuilding the squarebody parts anyway, no need to switch crossmembers then change everything out. You can get spindles that fit your original 63-70 ball joints and tie rod ends.

The 63-72 a-arms cross shafts never really wear out if they have grease in them, and they don't deflect so they'll hold alignment specs better. 73-87 rubber bushing degrade over time, the 63-72s are better to keep imo. The crossmember itself is basically the same, no improvement over the original one.
