Which drive shaft for lowered. Bags in rear
Hi.in a c10 66 long fleet side. 350(zz4) 200r4
2 piece old one is out. What is to be considered when choosing what to put in there. Front is drop spindles + additional front drop from one coil cut off . It's a cruiser, nothing else. No frame notch. Go with 2 piece or no ! If so what carrier support to use ? Thanks for any input Paul |
Re: Which drive shaft for lowered. Bags in rear
Best thing would be to contact a driveline shop and speak with them.
The longer a driveshaft is the thicker it needs to be and if you have a stock trailing arm crossmember they can hit at the top especially on a lowered truck. |
Re: Which drive shaft for lowered. Bags in rear
You use the stock style of center support, that's already in there. Only the rear shaft needs to be shortened. But, they will want the entire assembly for balancing.

The 200-4r is basically the same length as a short TH350 (~27" I think?). What was the original drivetrain?
Most likely you'll need to shorten the back half of the 2pc combo. As mentioned, the whole assembly needs to be balanced together. As for the carrier/support bearing, these seem to be the better alternate vs the OE stamped-steel/rubber units.... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...SABEgI_L_D_BwE |
