Hello all! Does anyone out there have information on these rims? Were they an option? What years? What model? Any information would be appreciated.

That was the optional 16" wheel for 2WD C 10, Blazers, Suburbans etc. 1971 thru approx 1981. GM part # 3997979. Not sure when they disappeared as being an option, but few and far between were ordered with them. Most people were fat and happy with the 15" wheels in the 70's and never saw the need to order their 1/2 ton with them. An exception was government agencies and public utilities who would order 16" for higher ground clearance. Hubcap with blue bowtie is correct for '70-'72 1/2 ton. Common tire size back then was 6.50-16. Today, probably the 215-85-16.

Is there any benefit of switching to a 16 inch rim from a 15? I have an opportunity to buy these rims but I need more information. Thanks

more LT tire choices in 16" than 15" these days, especially all terrain and heavy load rated.

some feel the aspect ratio of 16" wheels/tires look better on full size trucks of this era.

might find some 'show me your 16" wheels, tires, etc.' threads here to see examples.

are you trying to embellish the appearance of your truck or keep it period correct?

is there an issue with the current wheels on your truck prompting your query?

bottom line is personal preference, what criteria is most important to you?

good luck!
