Anyone add cruise control?

Beautiful day for a meet/cruise. Meet up spot was about an hour away and thought to myself sure would be nice to have cruise control.

Possible with a carbureted SBC?

I installed cruise control in my K10 recently with parts I got from the local Pick-N-Pull.

I did the same thing 20 years ago in a 72 C10 I used to own.

Re: Anyone add cruise control?

Yes--entirely possible. The inputs are speed (speedo cable) and vacuum, with a brake pedal valve to break the vacuum to cancel (and an optional second one if you have a clutch pedal). It simply uses a vacuum servo to physically pull on the accelerator linkage, just like your foot does from the cab.

I installed one of RogerKoop's restored period-correct cruise systems in my '68. It is the simplest type of cruise: one button with SET and DECEL only. I went with the '69 transducer because we couldn't get the '68 version to operate smoothly. Love it. Of course there are less costly ways to do it with more functionality if you aren't a stickler for period-correct-ness. It would be relatively easy to adapt a cruise system from another GM carbureted vehicle, or find an aftermarket cruise kit from the 80s or 90s.

Where do I inquire about one of these systems?

I love simple!

I put cruise on our 70 GMC and had it not been for a bad relay it would have been easy. I did take the easy mans way out and used Dakota Digital .

RogerKoop is a member of this board and posts his cruise kits for sale on the parts board (like this one). Reach out out to him--he may have some things he hasn't posted.

Dakota Digital is also a good place to check. Beyond that, I don't have any experience with any brand or vendor in particular, but an internet search should give you some options to compare.

That K30 is a real rare option. I have never seen one on a SPID sheet before
