GM 502/502 Quiet Lifter recommendation
I have a 502/502 (1999) that will be in my 1966 C10 (4L80 trans). It has the stock GM cam but I need to purchase a set of lifters that are quiet if possible. This truck will not be a racer but will be a cruiser. thanks

Is it a solid lifter cam, is it adjusted correctly ? Valve lash.
Is it a hydraulic cam, is it adjusted correctly ? Preload. |

If it was me, I'd use stock liffers with a stock cam.

Re: GM 502/502 Quiet Lifter recommendation
Here is the full story.
The engine actually is not mine but a friend putting the 502 in his restorod. The 502 is a 1999 model never used because of mouse damage then sold off. The engine was still in the crate with no intake/carb mounted yet. He replaced one head with a like 502 head and replaced the cam (GM) and 5 lifters (GM) that appeared/had corrosion from mouse urine. The valve lash has been set correctly by 3 or 4 people and it is still noisy as hell. I suspect lifter damage on other original hydraulic lifters from mouse urine. I am trying to convince him to replace all the lifters. Is using the GM 17120060 HL121 instead of the GM 17120061 HL122 lifter, OK? He runs the paperwork recommended oil 10W30. Or how about Melling or Sealed Power? thanks |

There are internal valving differences.
The 061 flows more oil to the rockers. |
