T5 transmissions

1 Attachment(s)
I’ve been rebuilding S10 T5 transmissions for over 10 years. It started as a fun project for my 1963 & 1965 C10 trucks.
A T5 is great for daily driving. Mine are bolted to an inline 230 and the other is behind a 283 SBC.
I now have in stock about 6 S10 T5 transmissions that are ready for service. These can be bolted up to a Muncie bell WITHOUT the need of an adapter plate.
Contact me for more info.

T5s have become unobtanium in my area. I would love to put one behind my 230.

I am happy to help. We can communicate through messaging or convert to email. I have info to share that can help you every step of the conversion/installation.

At last count, I have only 2 T5s that have a cable speedometer connection. Those cost more because they are very hard to find (1988 and earlier S10). I have world class and non-world class. Look for my message.

Thanks Lugz.

As much as Id love to take you up on that, getting a T5 from SC to me across a border and north of Toronto would be crazy expensive.

Logistics could be difficult. Sometimes things work out. I had a C10 owner from New Zealand ask about a T5. I thought he wasn’t serious but he explained that he had a container shipped from California every now and then. So yes, he’s got one of my T5s in his C10 in NZ. Maybe we’ll find an easy way to get one to you by private vehicle. You never know.

Re: T5 transmissions

My wife tracked down my dad’s truck and surprised me with it as a Christmas gift a few years ago. While the three‑on‑the‑tree was fun, I really wanted to be able to drive it more, so the search for a transmission upgrade began.

I came across Lugnutz65’s site and decided the swap didn’t look too hard. Using his DIY guide and a few YouTube videos, I found a T5 in a scrap yard and took on the project myself. I bolted it right up to my 250 and couldn’t be happier with the result. I only wish this had been an option back then—but I guess timing is everything.

I purchased a T5 from him to go behind my 235. One of the best decisions I made. Now it’s behind cammed 355 and really make the truck fun to drive. Definitely worth it!

Thanks for the vote of confidence John! Just about to finish another one.

Nah, easy. Ship to Buffalo. Drive over, throw it in the trunk, trans is light. Drive back home, declare at border with CBSA and pay tax on declared value. What you have on that paperwork for a "used transmission" is up to you and Lugz ;-)

However, I had no problem finding a T5 in Ontario when a buddy wanted one for his 63 build. Had it shipped straight to the school shop.
