Handbrake - e brake. A little help,chaps
Evening,
I think I am being stupid but not too proud to ask for a little help. When I pull the handbrake (e-brake) the outer cable that runs through the firewall moves with the handle meaning that the pulling movement does not translate into moving the cable that mounts to the rear brakes. Should the outer sleeve be held somewhere so it doesn’t move or am I being stupidly and the inner cable is seized within the outer as it goes up through the firewall? Not sure that makes sense but hopefully one of you clever souls will understand how it works and chime in. Thanks. P. :D |

I believe there is a little tab on the lever mount that should stop the cable sheathing. I had the same problem putting mine together. It might be the sheathing is under the tab, instead of being held back by it.

Thanks Skinny,
Don’t suppose you have a picture or diagram as can’t visualise it. P. :D |

Ok. It's not a tab per se.
There is a slot cut in the cable stop, and the outer ring is squished to prevent the sheathing from being pulled through. https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...322_183127.jpg https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...322_183109.jpg |

Skinny,
Thank you. That appears to be what I have done wrong. Really appreciate you taking the time to take the pictures. Paul |

The funny thing is I am vaguely sure that I saw it bent when I took it apart, and went "What the hell? Why is this bent?" and corrected it. And later, when it was assembled, couldn't figure out why the e-brake wouldn't hold its adjustment.
