seat belts
We all know the importance of seat belts, what shoulder mount belts can yall recommend?
Thanks for your time, JDarby |
Re: seat belts
I've got a set from Juliano's. They are great. The only thing we did was reinforce the cab corner for the top mount. Also reinforced under the floor where the reels mount.
Understand that any belts we put in our trucks are not as good as new cars with factory belts. But something is better than nothing. |
Re: seat belts
I assume Juliano's is a local shop to you?
And yes I agree anything is better than nothing as long as it is installed with a little thought behind it! |

Re: seat belts
Julianos was one of if not the first aftermarket seat belt manufacture who made belts for hot rods and custom and restored cars that were designed to fit specific applications. Before that for a street rig it was buy universal belts from a parts house (we did that for drag racing) or buy aircraft belts or pull them out of a donor car.

Re: seat belts
the other option is to choose seats with integral belts and, of course, mount the seats properly and ensure they floor will support the extra pulling force should that time ever come around

Re: seat belts
Make sure you think about plastic covered buckles and not the all metal style IF you are going to use it a daily or regularly. We went with the all metal for a more old school work truck look. And the metal banging on the door when I fling it off or let it roll back without opening the door keeps chipping the paint on the door right below the window. good news is we are patina all around so it does not stand out as if it was a newly painted truck.
I did get mine from seatbeltplus.com and have been very happy otherwise in the last 10 years. Note: Most of the universal ones have a much less pull belt speed from should down to buckle forgiveness than the stock ones of later years. Centrifugal speed of the belt going out is one of its major locking mechanisms. I just have to remember to pull slower than my more modern cars. Since I have a 56 I can get back up behind the panel and was able to add a plate behind to make it less likely to pull thru the sheet metal. |
Re: seat belts
Lucky it doesn't bash the window with the metal or you would have a mess to clean up.

Re: seat belts
I had good luck with seatbeltsplus.com too.
