Question about lifting my truck
 

Hello. I have a 1998 Chevrolet Z-71 that I am considering putting a lift under. Is a suspension lift the best way to go? I am thinking 2-4 inches, but not sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Suspension lifts can get VERY expensive. If you go suspension go 6" or more. Dont waste your money on a 2-4" when you can do a body lift much cheaper $200.

i agree i dont recomend any body buy a 2-3 inch suspension kit unless you like to change ball joints every 3-4 months this is a piss poor design

but if you want one i will give you mine when i take it out

if you are just looking for some minor height then body lift and 32s will fit some 33s on certain rims will clear if you are looking at any four wheeling then get the 4-6 inch lift kits then you can clear some bigger tires
you can find these lifts on different mess boards for around 500-600 bucks used

Hey playtoy1, I appreciate the advice, I definatley will NOT be doing a 2-3 inch lift, but will check into those used lifts. My only other question is how does the front suspnsion hold up if your wheelin on rocks or deep mud terrain? I only wanted to know since it does have an independent front suspension, worth swappin out?

well if you are going to do some REAL fourwheeling i recommend doing a straight axle swap using a kit from offroadunlimited.com 750.00 for the kit and your axle and springs to swap in
but if your going to do mild wheeling then go with a bds suspension lift they have lifetime warranty on there lifts i have never had a problem with my front end breaking but i have no rocks in michigan just mud,sand and snow
there are pros and cons of both options
if you do alot of driving on the street i recommend the bds lift because you use 73-87 front 4inch suspension springs (a little stiff ) for the axle swap
