front suspension crossmember
 

I would like to take a section out of a crossmember for a 70 Chevrolet C10, I have done this on a friends Suburban and really liked the outcome. My question is, I want to do this while the truck is still mobile and would like to know what years and models of donor trucks could provide a crossmember and are 1/2 and 3/4 ton units interchangeable? Any advice or recommendations? Thanks
