u joints and driveshaft
 

hey guys this isn't for me its for my buddy who has a 62 nova.i come here because you guys no what your talking about and because i get quick good responses all the time..so heres the thing.he wants to pull his motor and trans at the same time.if anyone knows how a novas engine bay (CRAMPED) is you'll know why...any how do you disconnect the u joints form a turbo 350 tranny..do we have to disconnect the rearend u joint too??

If you have already pulled the drive shaft loose from the rear end, just pull it yoke and all out of the transmission. It will just slide right out. You may want to get a cap(or some plastic and duct tape) for the tail of the transmission because fluid will run out when you tilt it up while pulling the motor(it makes a big mess). Hope this helps.

You might as well save yourself some time now and pull the driveline. You'll either have straps or U-bolts on the diff. Yank those, and do as the previous member said (slide the driveline to the rear) and it will simply slide loose.

I'd take some tape and wrap around the rear U-joint to keep the cups on. Otherwise they could fall off and the needle bearings could dislodge. Then you'd be forced to choose between trying to put them back in, or getting a new set of needle bearings/cups.
