what have you done for security
shhhhhhh dont tell anyone, but I am probably getting a new suburban. It is pretty nice. leather Navigator interior and all kinds of bells and whistles.
My problem is that I will probably have to park it on the street, and I am worried about it getting ripped off. What have you guys done as far as security, or what would you suggest? I am willing to soend a decent amount if it is pretty reliable, I understand nothing is full proff |
heres a few things off the top of my head
Ignition kill switch hidden in your cab Hood latch lock aftermarket alarm |
The price you pay for an alarm is pretty much what your going to get. Stick to DEI stuff but there are a few other good companys out there. alarms can get prices. Don;t waste money on options you don't need. You can also get lo-jack.
Get a lock for your hood. Stick the siren where no body can get it but the siren can direct sound out, so it's not muffed.. Also you might want to think of making a plate for under your dash so no one can mess with your wiring or get there hands under there. Lets admit it, our trucks don't come with the hardest wiring setup on our ignitiuon switch(get an alaram with a starter kill) and our truck don't have lazer cut keys. having a plate would make a thief think twice of spending time in your truck especially when a siren in going off. If you want to put power lock in your burb then get a keyless entry remote with starter kill. since our trucks have carb it's not the greatest idea to have remote start but can be done though if you motor is up to the task. Get a tilt sensor so if someone gets brave enough to tow your burb that sob will go off the whole time they are trying to jack up your ride and drive off. tilt sensors are extra, you'll normally get the shock sensor with a alarm. Good luck |
