Full time to part time hub swap

1986 1/2 ton Suburban with full time front hubs, I would like to install part time hubs. Could you guys tell me what parts I'll need and about how much this may cost? Thanks for any help

They are actually automatic hubs. The ones you have to back-up to disengage. I replaced the ones on my 85 K5 years ago. All you need to do is buy a set of replacement hubs for your vehicle either warns or milemarker, etc... and follow the directions. Very straight forward. Should be able to have it done in about 30 minutes for both sides.

Should cost under $100.Would be a good time to clean and repack the bearings. To do the bearings you can go to a parts store and buy the socket to remove the hub nuts for around $15.

I'll add, make sure you remove and re-use what the directions tell you. I left a clip in the first time I did mine and come to find out the directions said remove and not re-use. When it goes together you should be able to push and hold the hub on with a minimal amount of effort, i.e. should not have to tighten the hub bolts to pull the hub on.
